Caesars Palace Las Vegas Opens Poker Room

By Dan Katz
Published: Thursday, December 22, 2005

The last time anyone played poker at the venerable Caesars Palace in Las Vegas was sixteen years ago. Today, as a sort of early Christmas present, the casino opened its huge, luxurious, $12 million poker room, hoping to join the ranks of the Bellagio, the Mirage, and Wynn as one of the premier places to play poker on the Strip.

The room itself is immense – 8,500 square feet. But that’s just for the everyday cash games. Caesars also built a separate 6,000 square foot tournament room so that the cash game players will not be inconvenienced during a tournament. And tournaments there shall be. Caesars plans on holding daily and weekly contests, as well as the 2006 Heads-Up Poker Championship and a new World Series of Poker circuit event.

The thirty table main room will be home to a wide variety of games at both high and low stakes, according to Caesars. The room is also appointed with twenty-five high-definition televisions, as well as eleven original works of art by LeRoy Neiman. These pieces, which had hung in the executive office hallways, depict almost forty years of Caesars Palace history.
