Jean-Robert Bellande is the newest member of Team Bodog, joining Evelyn Ng, Josh Arieh, and David Williams. Bellande is a sort of “love him or hate him” type of player. He talks A LOT at the table, often getting under people’s skin. For the most part, his chatter is not mean spirited, and he almost always talks trash with a smile on his face. For the thin-skinned, however, he can be hard to take. Bellande rose to prominence in the poker world during a hot stretch in March and April of 2005. First, he placed third at the WSOP Circuit event in at the Rio in Las Vegas, getting his first television exposure and winning $210,900. Less than a week later, he won $148,000 by talking the championship at the Winnin’ O’ the Green. Then, in another two weeks, Bellande placed second at a preliminary event at the WPT Five Star World Poker Classic, pocketing another $123,385. He has also become known recently to the non-poker public, as he appeared on the hit television show, Survivor: China. Bellande fared well in the game, getting voted out 8th out of 14 contestants.
