The “Big Game” Hits the Small Screen

For those who have always wanted to see what hundreds of thousands, or even millions of dollars in chips look like moving across a poker table, The Game Show Network will soon be making your dreams come true. The cable network’s new show, “High Stakes Poker,” is set to begin filming next week at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, and will feature an astounding $100,000 buy-in.

That’s right. Each player will need to pony up $100,000 to play and will be able to re-buy as often as they want. Some of the biggest name professional players are already lined up: Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Daniel Negreanu, and Johnny Chan. Avid poker player and Los Angeles Lakers’ owner, Dr. Jerry Buss, is also on the roster. The game is not just for the pros, though. Anyone who has a large enough bankroll can play.

The players will receive at least partial compensation for being part of the show.

“High Stakes Poker” will start airing on The Gameshow Network on January 16 at 9:00pm.
