In a move made in preparation for its departure from the Cryptologic network next year, online gaming company Betfair has acquired both the online poker room, Poker Champs, and Danish software company, Aglet Technologies. The new organization will operate as Betfair Development Denmark and will work toward developing new poker platforms for the parent company.
“The new team will be helping us develop both our own poker products and a unique, integrated games platform. The conclusion of Betfair’s current poker software contract next year with CryptoLogic’s licensing subsidiary, WagerLogic, will see Betfair’s poker provision operated and developed in-house,” said Steve Ives, Director of Betfair Games.
Kevin Mikkelsen, Chief Executive Officer of Aglet, is also excited about his company’s acquisition.
“Aglet is proud to bring to Betfair the knowledge and expertise used to build PokerChamps, one of the world’s most advanced poker gaming systems,” he said. “As software developers we are thrilled to be part of a company that represents the finest in technology driven business and product development.”
