Antonio Esfandiari, one of the original “stars” of the World Poker Tour, has been hired on as the Tour’s first official spokesperson. He will be the face of the WPT Poker-Made Millionaire, which is the WPT’s new exclusive group of 84 (and growing) poker players who have won at least $1 million on the Tour. Esfandiari himself was the sixth player to hit the seven-figure mark on the World Poker Tour, winning the 2004 L.A. Poker Classic. In an interview with Poker Source, Esfandiari called that victory the highlight of his career. Coincidentally, the lowest point was the night before, when he lost one-third of his net worth at the poker tables. In a press release, Esfandiari expressed his understandable enthusiasm about his new role: “I will never forget the day Steve Lipscomb hired me to perform magic at the press release party for the WPT. All I dreamt of that day was winning a WPT event someday. To have actually won a few years later and to now become the official spokesperson for a company that did so much for poker and me personally is an honor I hold very dear to me. It’s great to be a part of the WPT, who has been such an instrumental part of my poker journey.” As part of his responsibilities, Esfandiari will be the spokesperson for the WPT’s two online poker room’s, CLUBWPT and worldpokertour.com. He will represent the company various poker tournaments around the world, and will provide poker tips and tournament updates via WPT Live Updates, blogs, and online videos.
