Sports columnist and television personality, Tony Kornheiser, saw the CBS sitcom based on his life, “Listen Up”, survive for only one season. He should feel lucky. “All-In”, a show loosely based on poker player Annie Duke’s life was not picked up by NBC after the filming and testing of the pilot.
Comedienne Janeane Garofalo was slated to play the lead role, a professional poker player and single mother of three living with her parents and showgirl sister in Las Vegas. With poker seeing a seemingly exponential growth in popularity over the last couple years, a poker-related sitcom, especially one based on a real pro’s life, sounded like a cinch. Scheduled to air in September 2005, it apparently was not meant to be.
The executive producers of “All-In” were Dan Bucatinsky, Jack Burditt, and former “Friends” star, Lisa Kudrow.
