Absolute Poker will officially announce on Friday that it will offer Elite VIP members nine percent interest on their account balances. This promises to be a great boon to Absolute regulars and hearkens back to the “good old days” when Party Poker gave ten percent interest. The early word from Absolute is that the interest will only be given once per year, based on the player’s average daily balance. Players will be eligible for the interest as long as they “…don’t withdrawal [sic] or transfer the funds in their account.” Presumably this means that one must keep some sort of minimum balance in order to qualify. Players can achieve Elite VIP status by earning 40,000 VIP points. To maintain this level, at least 10,000 VIP points must be earned per month. In reality, one only needs to earn 10,000 points in one out of every two months, as there is an extra month grace period to retain Elite benefits. Online poker rooms are not banks, and we would never recommend keeping ungodly sums of money in a poker account, but for high stakes players who naturally need to have large bankrolls ready to go, this will be a nice annual bonus.
