Bounty tournaments have been increasing in popularity online, as they create an even more competitive atmosphere than normal, as well as give everybody the opportunity to win money, even if they fail to “make the money” in the tournament. Absolute Poker has now gotten into the bounty act with its Absolute Assassins promotion. Part of the promotion is the standard bounty tournament. In special marked tournaments, a portion of the buy-in will go to the prize pool, while the other portion will be placed on each player’s head. Every time you knock a player out, you get their bounty, and this money is yours to keep no matter when you are eliminated from the game. The other part of the promotion incorporates the World Series of Poker. Every Saturday, Absolute will hold a $200 + $9 “Bounty WSOP Assassin” Main Event, with $100 going towards the prize pool and $100 placed on each player’s head. For every 120 players in the tournament, one will be awarded a seat in the Main Event of the 2008 WSOP. On top of that, Absolute will have a list of bounties at the WSOP. Every player who wins a seat through an Assassin tournament be deemed an “Absolute Assassin” and will win prize money from the poker site for knocking one of the pre-determined bounties from the WSOP. Absolute is running ARP and cash qualifiers for the WSOP Assassin Main Event every day.
