2007 WSOP Event #53 – Ram Vaswani Wins $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout

Ram Vaswani finally got it done.  After a history of coming oh so close to a World Series of Poker bracelet – he had previously finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th – the man they call “Crazy Horse” captured his first WSOP title in the $1,500 limit hold’em shootout event.

A member of the famed Hendon Mob, which includes Joe Beevers, Barney Boatman, and Ross Boatman, it may surprise some to find out that Vaswani is the first of the group to win a bracelet.

The former snooker pro has already had much success in Europe.  Major victories include the 1999 Dutch Masters Classics, the 2000 European Superbowl, the 2002 French Championship, and the 2004 European Poker Tour Irish Masters.  He also came in second at the 2001 European Superbowl and has three EPT final tables to his name.

This event was short, by World Series standards, only taking two days to complete (it was only one of three to go two days).  But then again, the final table didn’t start until 8:00pm, and since it was limit poker with everyone starting with the same chip stacks, it took until 4:00am to determine a winner.  So, it was a “two day” tournament that technically went three days.
