2007 WSOP Event #44 – Frank O’Dell Wins $2,000 Omaha High-Low

In one of the fastest final tables you’ll ever see at the World Series of Poker, Frank O’Dell bested eight competitors to take the bracelet in the $2,000 Omaha High-Low event in just over three hours.  This was O’Dell’s second bracelet – he won his first in the same event in 2003.  For his efforts, he took home $240,057.

O’Dell went into the final table third in chips with 318,000.  He did not get involved the action too much in the first hour and a half, although there were four eliminations in that period.  Surprisingly, one of those knocked out was Ming Lee, who was second in chips to start the day.

Two hours in, he began to make his move, taking a big pot from Thang Luu to get his stack near 600,000.  He then knocked out Marvin Ryan in 5th place to take the chip lead.

Once Marcel Luske was eliminated in 4th place, O’Dell put the hammer down.  First, he quartered Martin Corpuz, Jr., and immediately followed that up by scooping Luu.  After that hand, both Corpuz and Luu were crippled.  Neither had more than 120,000 chips, while O’Dell was at 1.75 million.  It was just a matter of time now.

And that time was only about ten minutes.  O’Dell first dispatched Corpuz by making a Queen-high straight with no low possible and then two pair against Luu for the bracelet.

Final Table Standings

  1. Frank O'Dell -- $240,057
  2. Thang Luu -- $147,726
