2007 WSOP Event #42 – Lukasz Dumanski Wins $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha High-Low

Canada strikes again.  The western side of the country has already had its share of bracelet winners this World Series, so now it was the east’s turn.  Toronto’s Lukasz Dumanski, a 24-year-old professional poker player, won the $1,500 pot-limit Omaha high-low event and over $220,000.   This was his third-ever cash at the WSOP and his first bracelet.

Dumanski started third in chips at the final table and gradually chipped up for about three hours without getting into a major confrontation.  In that time, he had built his stack from 358,000 to over 600,000 to take the lead, but by the time he doubled-up Dario Alioto, he had fallen under 200,000.  Five-handed, he doubled-up to get back to 300,000 and then doubled-up again right after Chad Brown was eliminated in 5th place to rise to 555,000.

He then treaded water again for a while until making a major leap, knocking out James Tolley in 3rd place.  Just like that, Dumanski had a big chip lead on David Bach, 1.4 million to 650,000.

Just a few minutes into heads-up play, both plays got it all-in pre-flop.  Dumanski had A-A-Q-3 with two clubs, while Bach held J-J-3-6 rainbow.  Bach would need some help to win the pot, but this is Omaha, and anything can happen.  The flop of Q-8-4 with two clubs put Bach in a heap of trouble which he could not get out of.  Neither the turn nor river were any help to him and Lukasz Dumanski won the bracelet.

Final Table Standings

  1. Lukasz Dumanski -- $227,454
