Eli Elezra removed the “best poker player to never win a bracelet” tag from his name earlier in the 2007 World Series of Poker. Now, Jeffrey Lisandro can peel his prefix away, as well. The high stakes cash game and well known tournament player finally won his first bracelet, taking the $2,000 seven card stud title and one of the smallest purses of the year, at “only” $118,426. It was a strong lineup at the final table, so strong, in fact, that ESPN made a last minute decision to televise it, even though its audience may not been as keen on stud as it would be had the event been hold’em. In addition to Lisandro, who entered the final table as the chip leader, there was fan favorite, Daniel Negreanu, who was second in chips, Nick Frangos, a local favorite out east and several-time final table member, and Nesbitt Coburn, who placed second in a stud event earlier at this WSOP. Negreanu’s bid for a bracelet ended in fifth place, despite his healthy starting stack. Prior to the WSOP, he offered all comers to bet against him on winning a bracelet and so far, even though he has made multiple final tables, he has not been able to finish the deal. Lisandro, on the other hand, had little trouble this day. He seemed to take down pot after pot, big and small, and rarely faced a serious threat. He gradually built his chip lead when he was heads-up with Frangos and eventually Frangos had no choice but to commit himself on fifth street with a pair of Jacks showing. Lisandro had rolled-up Aces which had already improved to set and Frangos had no chance. Final Table Standings - Jeffrey Lisandro -- $118,426
- Nick Frangos -- $65,902

- Daniel Negreanu -- $21,321
- Gregory Pappas -- $16,282
